For Undergraduates
Procedure
We accept applicants through the UCSD Psychology Department’s common application. Please see this page for details and deadlines. If you are particularly interested in joining our lab, please list Dr. Heyman as your top choice.
After an initial review of the common application, the lab supervisors will send a lab-specific survey to selected candidates. Applicants will be notified of our decisions about one week before the quarter begins.
What We Are Looking For
We are a developmental lab that focuses on children and adolescents (ages 4-18). We are especially interested in research assistants who enjoy working with younger populations. Prior experience working with children (both formally and informally) is welcome, but not required!
Prospective students are expected to:
Have strong communication skills
Be detail-oriented, reliable, and committed (minimum of two quarters, 12 lab hours per week during committed quarters)
We encourage students who have connections with schools or can help us recruit participants to join. Please feel free to email graduate students in the lab with any further questions!
